I recently purchased this vise for traveling purposes. Overall for the money, this is an excellent vise. Since purchasing this vise I have tied about 300 flies in sizes #8 through #20.
On the plus, the actual vise portion holds flies well. I have reasonably cranked down on the flies and they have not slipped. The dual screw leverage allows for relatively quick change between flies and different sizes. The rotary function is functional.
Two minor cons. The base is not real heavy, but this is a travel vise so that is to be expected. The second s that the shaft is too short. There is very little room to put a trash basket under the vise. Two more inches would be nice.
Again this is a traveling vise that is in the $50 - $60 range. For my home use, I will still use my home vice that costs 5 to 6 times as much. But for going to my club meetings or when traveling on trips, this is a good value for money and allows me to get the fly tied.
