J2 907 Saltwater Fly Hook

I like J2 hooks for a couple of reasons. They’re good, sharp hooks and they’re priced right when you tie a lot of flies. I plan to buy more because I’m about out.

And the are as reliable and well made as other brand names. I tie cloussers with them for fluke fishing and they been dragged on and through some pretty gnarly bottoms.

These look like good hooks. If they truly are nickle over stainless steel then they should be about as corrosion proof as they come. The design is a little bit old school similar in shape to a Mustad 24007. I would like to see a more modern design like some of the Gamakatsu hooks, especially more of a micro barb. It is easy enough to crimp down but filing down would compromise the plating. They are sharp but not sticky sharp, not sure why if they are chemically sharpened, maybe not?

Overall good value and maybe I will not put the #8s to the test as most hooks this size will bend on a big bonefish. Here I would go for a heavier hook.
