This is OK, but does not live up to expectations. The materials and craftsmanship are high quality, but the design is suspect. The whip finisher spins easily and is easy to use with two caveats. First, the upper cone which holds the whip finishing wire to the body is threaded onto the body and unscrews itself in the ordinary course of using the tool. It's fine if you remember to tighten it regularly (sort of like uncording your thread periodically), but if you forget the top of the tool can and has come apart while trying to whip finish a fly. I have to remember to get some thread locker which will hopefully help. Second, the half hitch tool is tough to use because the thread catches in a groove where the bottom cone which is the half hitch tool threads into the body. A cheap brass half hitch tool is much better. I really like my other Dr. Slick tools, but this was a disappointment.
